PRESS RELEASE:

 BRIDGEPORT, TX (November 9, 2021) – The City of Bridgeport announces new City Manager, Mike Murray

After a thorough interview process, the Bridgeport City Council has appointed Mike Murray as its next City Manager.  

Mr. Murray comes to Bridgeport from the City of Westworth Village, where he served as City Administrator. Prior to Westworth Village, he served as City Administrator/EDC Executive Director in Clyde and City Manager for the City of Rusk. Mr. Murray's expertise includes but is not limited to infrastructure development, finance, grant writing, and economic development.

 Murray holds a Masters' degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler and has more than 25 years of local government experience in Texas. Additionally, he is a United States Army Veteran.

 Mayor Singleton has noted that the City Council is excited about Mr. Murray joining our team and that "he brings a reputation of integrity, collaboration and community orientation to our city management."

 "I am truly honored to serve and become a part of this great community of Bridgeport. I look forward to serving alongside the Council, our staff, and citizens to continue to make Bridgeport an exceptional place to live, work and raise a family.” Mr. Murray stated.

 The City of Bridgeport contracted Strategic Government Resources (SGR) to conduct a comprehensive search for a new City Manager. SGR is an executive recruitment firm based in Texas, specializing in recruiting, assessing, and developing innovative, collaborative, and authentic leaders for local governments. SGR's proprietary recruitment and vetting process produced a strong field of candidates.  After a meticulous screening process, the city received 44 applications from fourteen different states and selected five candidates for further interviews and an opportunity to meet with department managers within the city of Bridgeport.

 Mr. Murray's first day with the City of Bridgeport will be November 10
