Christmas Cards in the Park

The City of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department is offering a holiday decor program to allow businesses, civic groups, and individuals a chance to share their best wishes for the season with residents and visitors.

Spaces will be allotted in Harwood Park for the display of "Christmas Cards," which will consist of lighted holiday displays that will remain up from the week of Thanksgiving until after the New Year.

Who is eligible: Anyone. Cards will be given a location based on a first-come, first served basis.

Where will the cards go: Along the fence on the U.S. 114 (Hovey) side of Harwood Park. As the project grows from year to year, we hope to place cards all along the walking trail.

What is the cost: There is no fee to reserve or use the space. Your only cost is what it takes to prepare your decoration.

What do you provide: The decoration, lighting, and extension cords. You will be asked to adequately brace your decoration and to maintain it during the display period. You will also be asked to sign a waiver.

What is provided for you: The City of Bridgeport will mark and assign the spaces, provide electrical outlets, and absorb the cost of the electricity. The displays will be on timers so they will only be illuminated during dusk and nighttime hours.

What are the display times: Cards should be set-up the week of Thanksgiving and should be taken down between December 27th and January 7th.
