Setting Up An Account

Setting up an electric and/or water account with the City of Bridgeport is easy and convenient.

Step 1

Call the city’s Utility Billing Department at (940) 683-3400 to determine if the address is within the city’s service area. If you are within the city limits, it is required that you have City of Bridgeport electric service.

If you are not in the city limits, you will have to contact some other entity to service your address. There are a couple of other water companies in this area, and it is possible that you may need to contact some other entity about servicing your address.

Step 2

Complete an account application form.

Step 3

Bring the application form to City Hall (900 Thompson Street) with a copy of your driver’s license, a second form of identification, and a payment that will cover the deposit. The average deposit for a residential account is $300 ($150 for electric and $150 for water / sewer). Commercial accounts will need to call the Utility Billing Department to get the correct deposit amount based on consumption.

We recommend that you request service at least 24 hours before you need it. Service will be connected by the end of the next business day following your request.
